Research & Development

In order to achieve our ambition of providing leading genetics to our customers, almost a hundred dedicated individuals are striving for innovation across our core flower crops every day.

Breeding

Over a hundred years of professional breeding efforts have led to a genetic offer that is second to none in the flowers industry.

Just two of a long list of landmarks for Syngenta Flowers are the first F1 pansies and the first xanthomonas free pelargonium.

Breeders at Syngenta are breeding for color, shape, size, longevity, drought and bacteria resistance. Our breeding activities span four major climatic zones in order to deliver the best performance for wherever our customers are located.

Our main Research & Development centers are located in Enkhuizen, Netherlands, Hillscheid, Germany, Gilroy, California, USA and Alva, Florida, USA.

Product Development

Assessing the growing and flowering characteristics of new genetics is the main goal of our product development trials.

We analyze how each variety behaves under different climatic situations to be able to provide reliable and professional growing advice for our customers.

We test our genetics in four main climatic zones: continental, oceanic, subtropical humid, subtropical dry.

In addition to our own trial sites in Vero Beach (Florida, USA), Gilroy (California, USA), Enkhuizen (Netherlands) and Hillscheid (Germany), we organize grower trials throughout Europe and with three partners in the USA: Raker, Lucas and Garden Genetics.
